The In-Between Days

There’s something distinctive about the days between Christmas and New Year.
The main event has passed and the urgency hasn’t quite returned.
I’ve always loved this part of the year. Not because anything dramatic happens, but because the pace changes just enough for us to hear ourselves think again.
For a few days the diary is emptier and the world seems to give us permission to pause without explanation. And in that pause, something interesting often happens.
We begin to notice.
Not in a big, analytical way, just quietly.
We notice what this year has taken from us and what it’s given us in return.
We notice what feels complete and what still feels unresolved.
We notice where we’ve grown and where we might have been running on habit rather than intention.
This is not the time for making resolutions (that probably won’t work).
What this time offers instead is something more subtle and, I think, more valuable: perspective.
When the noise lessens things look different. The decisions that felt heavy last month often start to feel easier. What once felt urgent no longer demands the same attention.
And sometimes, without any effort at all, a quieter sense of what matters begins to take shape.
I see this again and again in with my clients.
When people stop trying to “figure out” the next year and simply allow this one to gently close, clarity arrives in its own time without being forced. or rushed. It just comes.
A Gentle Invitation.
If you’re in that in-between space right now, here’s a gentle invitation.
Rather than asking yourself what you want to achieve next year, instead ask yourself :
- What from this year wants acknowledging before I move on?
- What feels complete, even if it didn’t turn out as planned?
- What am I ready to carry forward ?
- What am I quietly ready to leave behind?
Sit with the questions and see what surfaces over the next few days.
If you find yourself drifting a little this week, maybe moving more slowly, thinking without pushing for answers, you’re probably exactly where you need to be.
There’s plenty of time for intention-setting and forward motion.
For now, let this space do what it does best.
It often knows the way before we do.
Renew, Realign, Reset
This time between Christmas and New Year often gives people a glimpse of something they don’t usually have enough of – thinking space.
My Renew,Realign,Reset Day is designed to offer exactly that, but with more depth and support. It’s a day held entirely for you to reflect on what’s been and get clear about what matters now.
There is nothing to prepare, just space, presence and deep coaching.
If you’d like to explore whether that kind of day would be helpful for you, click here to find out more.
Until next time,
