What I Noticed When I Finally Gave Myself Some Space

I hadn’t realised how little space I had
A couple of weeks ago, I found myself wandering around the house with that strange, restless feeling that you can’t quite put your finger on.
Do you know what I mean?
I’d made a coffee, sat down to plan my next 90 days, stared at the page and absolutely nothing came to mind.
My mind was blank.
It wasn’t because I lacked motivation or didn’t have ideas.
As I thought about it, it became obvious what the problem was – I had no space.
I spend so much time holding space for my clients that I rarely step into space for me.
In the busyness or running a coaching practice I’d forgotten that :
As coaches, we need coaching.
As leaders, we sometimes need leading.
As humans, we need space to breathe.
I wasn’t the only one
A few days later I had a mentoring session where a coach said, “Cath, I feel like I’ve lost myself somewhere this year.”
Another told me, “I just want a day where someone helps me untangle things for a change.”
And those conversations struck a chord because they reflected something I recognised in myself.
We all have these moments- not all-or-nothing just gentle internal nudges that:
- You’re need to get clarity
- You’ve grown, but you haven’t paused to integrate it.
- Something wants to shift and you just need space to hear it.
What changes when you stop long enough
And in truth, big shifts don’t always happen over months.
Sometimes they happen in a single day when the noise quietens and the real you gets a chance to speak up again.
I’ve witnessed it so many times:
A coach arrives feeling foggy and leaves feeling grounded.
A leader walks in stressed and edgy and walks out relaxed and calm.
Someone who felt stuck suddenly sees the way forward with absolute clarity.
Not because they “worked harder,” but because they finally had the space to hear their own wisdom.
It’s amazing what happens when you deliberately step away from the everyday and give yourself the luxury of
being fully present.
A small reflection for you to try
If you’ve got five minutes, take a piece of paper and finish these sentences — without overthinking them:
- Right now, I feel most stretched by…
- What I’m craving more of is…
- If I had a whole day held just for me, I’d love to walk away clearer about…
Then stop.
There’s nothing to solve and you don’t need a plan.
Sometimes simply giving those thoughts some space is enough to let something shift.
And if, as you read this, there’s a quiet sense of “yes… that’s it” then trust that
because that’s often where clarity begins.
Imagine a full day for this…..
If this reflection has been helpful and you’ve been feeling that sense that something is ready to shift then you may find a full day of this kind of space even more powerful.
I’ve designed a day that provides you with plenty of time for reflection, being fully present in the moment and deep coaching being fully supported by an MCC who holds the space at a different level.
It’s space to recalibrate who you are and where you’re going that brings you back to you.
This might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

Until next time,
