Why Working with a Great Coach Mentor was One of the Best Decisions I Ever Made

You may, or may not, have thought about working with your own Coach Mentor.

Over the years I have worked with many. Some were good, and to be honest, some were very unhelpful!

But when I found a great Coach Mentor, working with them was one of the best decisons I have ever made.

It accelerated both my personal and professional growth and made a huge difference for me.

Here are just some of the benefits I experienced….

1. Emotional Support

One of the most profound benefits of having a great Coach Mentor is the emotional support they provide.

Working as a coach, either in your own business or as an internal coach,  it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and isolated.

A great Coach Mentor offers a safe space to express worries, fears, and frustrations.

This emotional support is crucial for maintaining mental well-being and resilience, enabling you to navigate your role with greater clarity and calmness.

2. Enhanced Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is a cornerstone of developing coaching mastery.

A great Coach Mentor facilitates deep reflection, helping you to gain realisations and insights into your coaching strengths and behavioral patterns.

Through dynamic feedback, you can identify areas for improvement and build on your strengths.

This enhanced self-awareness is not only beneficial for your personal growth but also improves your coaching relationships.

3. Objective Perspective

A great Coach Mentor provides an objective viewpoint, free from the biases and preconceptions that can cloud judgment.

This external perspective helps you to see coaching situations from different angles and encourages innovative thinking

4. Skill Development

Tailored guidance from a great Coach Mentor can significantly enhance specific coaching skills.

A great Coach Mentor offers practical advice and often shares advanced coaching techniques that take your coaching skills to the next level.

5. Challenge

A great Coach Mentor will challenge you in a supportive way to take you to the edge of your comfort zone which is where all new learning happens so that you grow as a coach and as a person.

6. Increased Confidence

Regular interaction with a great Coach Mentor boosts your self-confidence.

By providing constructive feedback and recognizing achievements, a great Coach Mentor help you build a strong sense of self-worth.

This increased confidence empowers you to take on new challenges, assume greater responsibilities, and make bold decisions without fear of failure.

7. Focus

A great Coach Mentor helps you to maintain focus and motivation.  When you get off track they bring you back to what’s important for you as a coach so that you get unstuck easily.

8. Resilience Building

Resilience is a critical trait for coaches.

Through shared experiences and practical advice, a great Coach Mentor helps you to build that resilience.

Learning how to bounce back from perceived failures, manage your stress and stay positive is essential for your sustained success as a coach.

9. Business Development

Navigating the development of your coaching business can be daunting.

A great Coach Mentor can offer invaluable advice, helping you to set realistic goals, identify opportunities for gaining new clients and make informed decisions about your coaching business, all of which accelerate your success.

10. Whole-person Development

Working with a great Coach Mentor provides you with professional development and also encourages your personal growth as a coach.

They help you achieve a balanced life, promoting your well-being and emotional intelligence.

By fostering a growth mindset and encouraging continuous learning, a great Coach Mentor  contributes to your development in a holistic way ensuring you thrive both professionally and personally.

In Conclusion……
The benefits of having a great Coach Mentor are multifaceted and deeply impactful.

It strengthens how you coach, how you relate and how you show up with your clients.

The transformative power of great Coach Mentorship lies in its ability to touch every aspect of your life as a coach and the effect ripples out to your clients, their teams and the systems they’re part of.

As an ICF Master Certified Coach and Coach Mentor, this is what I care deeply about offering and I never tire of watching coaches grow into their own confident, grounded way of working.
