12 Ways Mindfulness Helps You Be a Better Coach

I first became aware of “Mindfulness” as a thing over 10 years ago now and it became a daily process for me to reduce my stress.

But over the years I’ve realised that it has been invaluable for me as a coach.

I use it as part of my preparation for a coaching session.

It makes me more effective and resilent and better able to help my clients get the transformations they want.

Thinking about how it makes a difference for me ……..

Here are 12 ways Mindfulness helps you be a better coach:

1. Presence

Mindfulness allows you to be fully present in the moment with your clients and develop trust and rapport whilst enhancing your listening skills and empathy.

2. Managing Emotions

You are better able to manage your own emotions, staying calm and grounded during challenging coaching sessions.

3. Developing Non-Judgement

Mindfulness encourages you to suspend judgement and helps you to create a safe space for your clients to explore without fear of criticism.

4. Self-Awareness

Through Mindfulness you gain insight into your own thoughts, feelings, and biases which leads to greater self-awareness and reflection.

5. Resilience

Mindfulness practices build resilience, helping you to bounce back from setbacks and  deal with challenges  with grace.

6. Self-Compassion

Mindfulness encourages you to treat yourself with kindness and self-compassion rather than self-crticism.

7. Patience

Mindfulness cultivates your patience which allows your clients the time and space they need to explore and grow at their own pace.

8. Acceptance

Mindfulness teaches you to accept things as they are, helping you to develop a non-reactive approach to coaching.

9. Flexibility

You become more adaptable and flexible in your approach and better able to respond to your client’s needs.

10. Gratitude

Practicing gratitude enhances your appreciation for your clients’ progress, strengths and challenges.

11. Intuition

When you learn to trust your intuition and inner wisdom you let go of the need to be right and become comfortable with not knowing.

12. Interconnectedness

Mindfulness deepens your awareness of the interconnectedness of everything, caring for your clients and the world.

Making Mindfulness part of my practice has made a huge difference for me – both personally and professionally.

It has enhanced my effectiveness and well-being and made me a better coach.

Why not try it as part of your practice and see what happens?

because

” You can be at your best when you have nothing on your mind”
Until next time,
Best wishes
